If you keep up to date with us on instagram, you’ll know that we’re hosting a contest for a sister who custom engraves bibles!
Inspired by this, we thought it would be fun to make another printable bible DIY.
We love our bibles, especially those who have received the new ones. The silver sword! It was such an amazing experience to be able to get our bibles at that special meeting we had a couple years back.
I don’t know about anyone else, but when we went to our meeting we had absolutely no idea we were going to get new bibles that day. We watched as the assembly of Witnesses on the live stream got their Bibles and were kinda like “hum… I guess we’ll get our soon.” and then the brothers started handing them out to everyone.
I can’t tell you how many tears of joy there were in that room. It was a beautiful surprise and we will always treasure that memory.
Anyway, this printable is another version of our beloved Bibles. It’s a Bible that will hold a gift card that you can use to give a gift card to someone. I know a lot of us are gearing up for Pioneer school, there have been (and will be) a many new ones getting baptized so this would be a very fun way to give someone a gift inside of a Bible!
This is really really simple to put together, and details on how to assemble (as usual) are below!
And as usual, if you download this and are able to use it please send us a photo on Instagram, or Facebook so we can see how it turns out! Its encouraging to us to see our brothers and sister using these printables but it also helps us to see if the tutorials we create are clear enough for you guys to follow and if our printable templates and things work well when assembled (since we create them all from scratch.) Thank you!
Before we start the tutorial, you can download the actual sheet you’ll print out below.
Please remember to use this free printout for personal use only, and not for resale of any kind. Thanks!
How To Assemble This
To begin, print out the sheet (on cardstock please!) that you downloaded above and cut out all of the pieces. You should have 4 individually cut out pieces total to use for assembling the cart together. (Pictured above)
After you’ve cut out all the pieces, start scoring all the dashed lines. Use a ruler and any pointed, dull object. These will help your folds to be more accurate.
Use a blade to cut out only these 4 rounded points on this particular piece pictured above. Your gift card will fit into each of those slots so that it’s held in place in the bible.
Next you’ll want to start assembling the other pieces. Each piece is basically a box. The only box that should be folded a certain way is the one that has the bible pages (viewed from the side) aka the box template with the horizontal lines. You’ll want to make sure all folds on this box are inward (pictured above) so that the lines will show on the outside of the box.
All the flaps are double enforced for added stability, so you’ll fold in once and then fold the little side flaps inside of the second fold. If that’s confusing then the image above shows how all the boxes should look when completed.
Next you’ll fold the bible cover as pictured above and round the spine of that bible so that it curves. This will help keep the entire book from warping once it’s all assembled together.
Glue the two biggest boxes (without the gift card slots) onto the pages of the bible. I found that assembling this it was easier to try to align each box right in the middle of each half of the bible. They should not be anywhere inside the spine area. Close the bible to make sure that they align well (you could even do this before and during gluing)
All thats left is to stick the gift card insert in the book! You’ll want to place it in the box that has all 4 even sides. And you’re done! Now you can give a gift card in a fun, themed way.
