Hi everyone! We’re back with another free printable, this time a really cool DIY tutorial for a cool idea you may have seen floating around on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest.
When the International Conventions of June 2014 were announced, many of our brothers and sisters were so excited for the possibility of being able to meet the International Delegates AND to be able to give some beautiful & scriptural themed gifts to fellow worshipers who would be visiting from other parts of the globe. This bible is one of the ideas that people were quick to create!
This gift is perfect to give away to just about anyone, for any reason! We love our bibles, and so everyone will appreciate the work you put into creating this amazing sticky note pad in the form of our New World Translation Bible. It’s a little bit of work, but it’s truly a labor of love! After all, there’s more happiness in giving!
So if you’re interested in creating this cool Sticky pad to use as gift or party favor, follow along with the images below for a quick DIY on how to accomplish this easily!
To begin creating the NWT Sticky Note Bible, you’ll need the tools listed in the image above: A few sticky notes of any color, an Xacto knife, a glue stick, scissors and our free printout which you can download by clicking the button below. Best printed on 80lb cardstock or higher so the bible cover won’t be too flimsy when you attach it to the sticky notes.
Please use this free printout for personal use only, and not for resale of any kind. Thanks!
(P.S. You’ll also need a sturdy ruler at some point, but it isn’t pictured here)
To start, cut out the cover of the NWT Bible (the download button above). The PDF is reusable and you can download it and print out as many copies of the cover for the project as you like!
Fold on the white lines so that you have the form of your mini Bible. If you aren’t so great and folding you can use a ruler and the tip of a bone folder to score the white lines first and fold after.
Moving on to the sticky notes: Peel the back off of one sticky pad and attach it to another until you reach the desired thickness. We used 4.5 stick note pads, but sizing differs depending on the type of sticky note pads you buy. The great thing about sticky notes is that you can peel away and re-stick them together without any trouble to get the perfect thickness.
We used yellow sticky notes in this case, but you can use any color you like. It would REALLY well if you can find gray or silver sticky notes, so the bible’s outer rim matches the silver lining on the outside of the NWT Bibles. When you finish stacking up the notes it should look something like the image above.
As you stack, compare the thickness of the sticky notes to the inner thickness of the bible cover to make sure it fits comfortable. Perfect fit!
To get the bible cover to stick to your thicker than usual sticky note pad, use the gluestick to apply glue to the inside BACK cover -even the parts where the sticky part of the bottom of the pad will go. This will make sure you’ve got a secure hold and your note won’t slide out later.
Attach the notes to the cover (make sure to place the sticky side down onto the area that you’ve glued) and you should have something that looks like this!
Continue to glue the spine of the cover to the back of the sticky notes. (Again, make sure you’re not gluing any open sides to the spine of the cover or your sticky notes won’t be able to be removed)
Now, I bet you’re wondering how we’re going to get off all that excess sticky note paper that pokes out beyond the bible cover. For this part of the creation process, you’ll need that Xacto blade we mentioned before and a sturdy (preferably metal or wooden) ruler.
You’ll be using the ruler to provide a straight surface to cut against, and the Xacto knife to slowly cut away at the excess paper. It’s hard to explain in words, so watch the video below to get an idea on how to accomplish this yourself!
Take your time when doing this and don’t rush. It takes a slow and steady hand! But don’t fret if you make a mistake and the cuts come out a little jagged, we have a secret weapon that will smooth the edges of the pages for you…
After you finished cutting all the pages, use a nail file to file down the sides of the pages. Doing this will make the pages seem a lot more even and will shave away an excess paper shreds or imperfections! If a nail file like the one pictured doesn’t quite do the job for you we found that a metal nail file works beautifully.
When you’ve finished, your new “Bible” should look something like this! Voila! Perfection! A cute little gift to give to someone special! Again, you can use this for party favors, as part of a baptism gift, to a new pioneer or just because!
