When I think about being molded by Jehovah, I think of a hug from a parent when you’re sad. A gentle massage from someone when you’re in pain. A friend or family member rubbing your back when you’re in distress. These kinds of touch bring comfort, a sense of soundness, a grounding warmth that makes you feel held and safe.

When you think of Jehovah molding you, does it fit in that same category? It does for me.

Watch a potter work. It’s not harsh or rigid or pushy. It’s smooth and flowing and almost comforting just to watch. That’s how Jehovah molds us.

We as humans can be harsh, sharp, pushy and rigid in the way we view, judge and try to correct one another. But Jehovah never works that way. And knowing how gentle and buttery smooth he is when he’s shaping us should make us want to melt into it, the way we melt into the arms of someone we love.

It is gentle. Comforting. Smooth. And it makes us happy to be clay in his expert hands.
